It's ideal for showcasing high-value content that aligns with a user’s interests but sits outside their current license, driving engagement and upsell opportunities. 🔔**See: **[Licensing The Basics](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/showcase-page-start-here?hsLang=en)  #### ![](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-03-2025-10-42-02-9937-AM.png?width=670&height=352&name=image-png-Jul-03-2025-10-42-02-9937-AM.png) Each report will be displayed with a padlock indicating that it is unlicensed. Users can select the 'Request access' option to take them to the content landing page, depending on how this has been configured. ![](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-03-2025-10-48-43-9839-AM.png?width=616&height=293&name=image-png-Jul-03-2025-10-48-43-9839-AM.png) 🔔**See also**: [Category Landing Page](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/hc/en-gb/articles/212092886-category-landing-pages?hsLang=en)  #### How It Works - Content is displayed in a **card layout**, pulled from selected categories that the user is **not licensed to.** - Only **unlicensed content** that has been **recently published** will appear. - Ordered by Publication date descending. - Cards update automatically based on user license and newly published content. - Select 'Request Access' to access the report landing pages and buy options. This section is best used if you typically assign report-level (Single Title) licenses.   **🔔Note**:  If category-wide licensing is mainly used, it is recommended that the “Unlicensed Categories” section be used instead. See [Unlicensed Categories.](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/edit-showcase-unlicensed-categories?hsLang=en)  ### Unlicensed Content: Customisation Options Administrators can use the dropdown menu to select the subscription categories to promote to the user.  ![](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-08-2026-04-17-24-7246-PM.png?width=670&height=429&name=image-png-Jan-08-2026-04-17-24-7246-PM.png) **Title** Customise the section title using the **Title** field. This text will appear at the top of the section—for example, *Explore More*, *Content You May Like*, or *Locked Insights*. #### **Metadata** Each unlicensed report appears as a card with optional metadata fields to add context and prompt interest. #### Optional Metadata Fields: - **Show covers** -choose whether to display the showcase cover or not. - **Description** – Adds a short summary or teaser of the report’s content - **Published Date** – Shows how recent the content is - **Analysts** – Highlight contributors for credibility Enable any of these fields by checking the corresponding box in the configuration panel. 🔔**Note**: for more information on report metadata, see [Adding report metadata](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/adding-report-metadata?hsLang=en). Card Layout Configure the number of **rows and columns** shown in the section. Choose from: - 2, 3, or 4 columns - Set how many rows of content will appear Card layout is responsive and adjusts automatically based on the viewer’s screen size.   The **Unlicensed Content** section surfaces **timely, high-value content** that users do not yet have access to, encouraging deeper exploration of your research and enabling natural upgrade conversations. It keeps valuable insights front of mind and turns curiosity into conversion.   🔔 **See also**: [Licensed Content](https://guide.contentcatalyst.com/edit-showcase-licensed-reports-content?hsLang=en)   -
