Locating a report using Quick Search

On the left-hand panel on the Home page, you will find the Quick Search option.

Group 13 (2)

Quick search supports the following:

  • Keyword -  Enter a single word for a basic search.
  • Exact Term - Enclosing a search term in quotation marks performs an exact term search (no stemming). E.g. ["walk"] (also [+walk]) will return results for 'walk' only, not for 'walks', 'walking', 'walker' etc.
  • Exact Phrase - Putting quotation marks around a phrase will search for the exact phrase only. E.g. ["high voltage"] will return results such as 'a very high voltage' but not 'the voltage needs to be high'.
  • OR - Will return results for one or both search terms.  E.g. [milk OR eggs] (also [milk|eggs]) will search for 'milk' OR 'eggs'.
  • AND - By default, all searches are performed using AND. E.g. [milk eggs] (also [milk AND eggs]) will return results containing both 'milk' AND 'eggs'.
  • NOT -  Exclude results that contain certain terms.  E.g. [milk NOT eggs] (also [milk -eggs]).

In addition to the above, the following basic rules apply:

  • The search is not case-sensitive, for example, the searches [West Virginia] and [west virginia] will return identical results.
  • Punctuation is generally ignored.
  • 'Noise words' such as 'I', 'a' and 'in' are generally ignored.
  • Search terms are automatically stemmed e.g. [walking] will return results including 'walk', 'walks', 'walker' etc.
  • Due to stemming, there may be some discrepancy between the number of search terms highlighted and the number of matches found.
