Adding a Basic Shopping Cart Purchase Link to a Marketing Page
You can add a basic shopping cart purchase link to any product hosted on the Content Catalyst platform
There are a number of ways you can integrate with external shopping carts. A basic integration option involves placing links to an external shopping cart on the marketing page for a report.
A user clicking this link will be taken to an external site to process their payment, but there will be no automated creation of licenses once the payment has been made.
🚨 The external shopping cart would also not receive any details of the identity of the user, so they would need to log in to that system separately, and potentially specify their username within the purchase for identification.
A common scenario here would be to use Paypal 'Buy Now' links, so the user can process the payment after logging in to their Paypal account. The owner of the Paypal would receive a notification from Paypal and would need to manually create a license for the user to view that report.
Links can be added in two places:
Setting up a Buy it Now link in the report metadata
- Go to Admin > Reports > [select report] > Summary > Edit.
- Save and test the link from the marketing page.
Setting up a Buy it Now link in the marketing description
- Go to Admin > Reports > [select report] > Marketing > Edit.
- Click the HTML icon in the editor window.
- Add a HTML link to the shopping cart URL - Example: <p><a href="https://www.myshoppingcarturl.com">Click here</a> to buy this content, through our webstore.</p>
- Save and test the link from the marketing page.
