The Admin Audit page is a dedicated area available to site administrators. It allows for greater visibility of users with assigned administrative rights.
The page can be accessed via the Site Administration > Admins option.
The default view shows the Admin table with all rows minimized.
The Account/User column header shows which account and user the permissions have been assigned to.
To expand and view all the users under the Account/User column, simply click the arrow on the left-hand side highlighted below.
Once expanded, a list of all users with admin permissions will be shown.
The next headers show the admin role types.
Understanding the Admin Audit page
Permissions may have been granted at an account or user level or inherited by an account assignment. This is presented as ticks within the table.
See a brief description of what each tick means
Black tick: Indicates that an admin right has been assigned at either an account level or directly at the user level.
Grey tick: Indicates that an admin right has been inherited from the account level.
Double grey tick: This will only appear on the account header before selecting the dropdown to indicate that the account contains users who have been assigned admin permissions.
Users will see how the permissions have been assigned in more detail once the account dropdown has been selected and the table expanded using the arrow.
See the breakdown of the Admin Audit page Account/User table below:
- admin right has been assigned at the account level. Black tick
- admin right inherited from the account assignment. Grey tick
- admin right directly assigned at the user level. Black tick
- admin right not assigned at account level, but account contains users with this admin right assigned. Double grey tick
- No admin right is assigned at the account or user level. No ticks.
Report Exports
The following export options are also available. See a description of each one below.
Excel Exports:
Download an Excel version of the admin table. The ticks are displayed as text within the downloaded Excel. See the description below.
- YES is the equivalent of the black tick
- (account) is the equivalent of the grey tick
- (users) is the equivalent of the grey double-tick
- blank cell is the equivalent of no tick
Export IP Reg Trail:
Export Audit Trail produces a list of IP Addresses registered to access the admin area.
Note: IP addresses registered before the admin audit page was created will show the IP address.
IP addresses registered from now on will also show the date they were registered and who registered the IP address.
See below example:
Export Audit trail:
The Export Audit trail provides an audit trail of administrators; see the example below and the description of each column presented in the export.
Column A is the account.
Column B is the user, or the whole account if blank
Column C Shows the added by User
Column D is the Disabled by User
Column E is the Date Added
Column F is the Date Disabled
Column G is the Status
Column H is the Role or Admin right
Example:
For the account named 'Demo Account 1', the admin right 'Analyst' was enabled, disabled, enabled, disabled, and finally enabled again on the dates shown. This action was taken by the user 'admin1'
- The user admin1
- added the admin right on this date
- the user admin1
- removed the admin right on this date
- the end state is Disabled
- The user admin1
- added the admin right on this date
- the user admin1
- removed the admin right on this date
- the end state is Disabled
- The user admin1
- added the admin right on this date
- the end state is Enabled
A row is added if an admin right is enabled and updated if the admin right is disabled.
Once an admin right is disabled, that row is not updated again.
